After a couple of weeks of fighting, the conquest was complete. A little 
help from the westerners, like the handgun in this picture, made a lot of 
difference. The rest of the islands capitulated soon after and 
King Kamehameha became the King of Hawai'i. For the first time 
in history, all of Hawai'i was one state.
